Eric Carle
Eric Carle who was an American designer, illustrator, and writer or children’s books, he even wrote the very famous children’s book ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar.’ He was born on June 25th, 1929 right in New York. Bill Martin, Jr. had seen a illustration of a red lobster that Eric had created for an advertisement and he then asked him to collaborate with him on a picture book. Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? Became a best seller in 1967 and this was what began Eric’s career. Eric’s work is distinctive and instantly recognizable: he would use hand-painted papers which had cuts and layers to form bright and colorful images. When I came across Eric’s work it had brought back many memories I remember from my childhood. I remember reading and being read these books and always looking at the colorful pictures since that it was draws a child’s attention most.
